On February 29, 2008, the Office for the Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister's Secretariat were merged into the Prime Minister's Office(PMO). This merger was intended to strengthen assistance in the discharge of duties of the Prime Minister and to enhance the Prime Minister’s role in managing policies to address such issues as social conflicts.
The Prime Minister's Office assists the Prime Minister in the discharge of his or her duties and the supervision of the administration of the ministries and central administrative authorities, management of social integration, policy analysis and evaluation, and regulatory reform.
The Minister of the Prime Minister's Office is in charge of administering the PMO. It has two Vice-Ministers to assist the Minister: the Vice-Minister for Government Policy and the Vice-Minister for General Affairs.
